Rites Held For Shambaugh, 87

Funeral services for Orin C. Shambaugh were held at the E.U.B. Church in Van Meter, Saturday, January 11 at 2 p.m. Mr. Shambaugh passed away of a heart failure on January 7 at the age of 87 years.

He lived his entire life in the Booneville and Van Meter area and was widely known and respected.

Rev. Clifford Carter officiated at the rites. Soloist was Lee Hubbard accompanied by Mrs. Lee Hubbard. Casket bearers were Roscoe Grose, Richard Johnson, Allison Shelly, Don Coffman, John Armstrong, and George Best. Mrs. Richard Johnson and Mrs. Don Coffman assisted with the flowers.

He is survived by his widow, Barbara, one son, Dr. G. I. G. Shambaugh, of Des Moines and one granddaughter.

Burial was at the Union Chapel Cemetery at Booneville.

OREN C. SHAMBAUGH DIED THIS TUESDAY

Oren C. Shambaugh, a life-long resident of the Van Meter and Booneville areas, died this Tuesday, Jan. 7, at a Des Moines hospital. He was 87 years of age.

Mr. Shambaugh was the last surviving member of a well known pioneer family in the Van Meter area. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Adam Shambaugh.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara; a son, Dr. G. I. G. Shambaugh of Des Moines; and a granddaughter, Gorda of Milwaukee, Wisc.

Funeral services will be held this Saturday at 2 p.m. from the E.U.B. church in Van Meter.
