When 14 years of age she moved with her parents to Iowa where they settled on what was known as the Ford and Drimmie farm, south of Earlham which was her home until her marriage on Christmas eve 1879 to Chalmers O. Clements.

To this union was born ten children, Bertha Gertrude who died in infancy, Arthur Thornton in 1908, William Warder in 1924, Ida Maude McBride in 1931 and Hortense Haxton Moreland in 1949.

She was a member of the Worthington church, the records showing her to have been a member there for almost half a century. She was a charter member of the Woman's Society and experienced much joy and pleasure in the friendly associations and work of the organization.

Hers was a busy life, looking well to the needs of others, many homes were blessed where her kindness and thoughtfulness found its way.

The following scripture found in the 5th chapter of Job the 26th verse is most fitting to this well spent life-- "Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age like as a shock of corn cometh in his season."
