MORTUARY

H. F. DeLong

Horatio Farthing DeLong, oldest son of William and Rhoda DeLong was born February 7, 1863 in Clarke county and after a long and patient illness departed this life at his home May 27, 1932, aged 69 years, 3 months and 20 days.

He always lived within a few miles of his birthplace. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Hamilton February 18, 1886. To this union six children were born: John William, who died in France, September 25, 1918, while in the service for his country; Rose and Olive at home; Ivy Bierma of Osceola; Mary Bierma and Pearl Leggett of Truro. Besides his wife and children he leaves to mourn his departure, six grandsons, three granddaughters, three sisters, Mrs. Ella Ellis of Maysville, Missouri; Mrs. Retta Cooper, Truro; Mrs. May Jones, Cooper and one brother T. G. DeLong of Truro, besides other relatives and a host of friends.

True and sincere and was held in high esteem by his friends and neighbors.

Services were conducted by the Rev. I. G. Randell at the Christian church in Truro at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 29th. The text was Psalms 127-2 of so Me giveth his beloved sleep. Music was rendered by a mixed quartette. Burial was made in the Hartman cemetery.

Besides his wife and children he leaves to mourn his departure, six grandsons and three granddaughters, three sisters, Mrs. Ella Ellis of Marysville, Mo., Mrs. Retta Cooper of Truro, Mrs. Mae Jones of Cooper, Iowa; one brother, T. C. DeLong of Truro, besides other relatives and a host of friends.

He was a loving husband and father, true and sincere, and was held in high esteem by his friends and neighbors. Several years ago he made a confession. Although not a member of any church he put his trust in God and was prepared to go. His depth and strength of character were better realized by those who knew him best.

Services were conducted by Rev. L. G. Randels of Truro, at 2 p. m. Sunday, May 29. The text was Ps. 127:2, “For so He giveth His beloved sleep.” Music was rendered by a mixed quartet. Burial was made in the Hartman cemetery.
