Life-Long Resident of This County Buried at Macksburg
William Anderson Kirkland of Winterset, a life-long resident of Madison county, died at his home here Wednesday, Dec. 9. He was 87 years of age.
Mr. Kirkland was born in this county Oct. 21, 1877, a son of Thomas and Mahala Shaw Kirkland. He was married at Winterset on Sept. 14, 1910, to Lulu Iiams, who survives him.
His active life was spent in farming in this county.
In addition to his wife, he leaves three sons, Cecil Kirkland of Vallejo, Calif., Eugene Kirkland of Huntsville, Ala., and Wendell Kirkland of Chicago, Ill.; a daughter, Mrs. Edna Pinckney of Iowa Falls; six grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Lillie Hamblin of Macksburg, and Mrs. Anna Lee of Los Angeles, Calif.
Funeral services were held Saturday from the Macksburg Methodist church conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Donald Frank. Burial was made in Moon cemetery at Macksburg.
