ST. CHARLES SERVICE FOR MRS. JOHNSON, 72

Funeral services were held Friday, May 25, at the St. Charles Methodist church for Mrs. Arlie H. Johnson.

Mrs. Johnson died May 23 at her home in St. Charles, following a six months illness. She was 72 years of age.

The daughter of Margaret Armstrong and Ovanbo Horton, she was born at St. Charles on Oct. 26, 1889.

Most of her life was spent in the St. Charles community, except for the years from 1918 to 1933 when she lived at Victor, Wapello and New London, Iowa, where her husband was a pharmacist.

She was a life-long member of the Methodist church and served as church pianist for many years. At the time of her death, she was communion steward for the church.

Mrs. Johnson was a past matron and 50-year member of Model Chapter 174, Order of Eastern Star. She was treasurer of the St. Charles chapter at her death.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Phyllis J. Davis, St. Charles postmistress, and two grandchildren, Van and Jan Davis, students at Simpson college.

Officiating at the funeral last Friday was the Rev. W. C. Trembly. Burial was in the St. Charles cemetery.
