FORMER RESIDENT BURIED AT PERU

Mrs. Lyda Sprung Died May 17 at Home in Delta, Colorado

Mrs. Lyda Sprung, member of a pioneer Madison county family, died May 17 at her home in Delta, Colo. She was 84 years of age.

Mrs. Sprung was the former Lyda Emerson, daughter of James and Mary Ann Emerson, and was born in this county near Peru on July 23, 1860. She spent her early life near Peru on the farm her father homesteaded.

Mrs. Sprung was an accomplished musician, and as a young woman taught music in Madison county and Des Moines for many years.

She was married to Jesse L. Sprung at Omaha, Nebr., on Feb. 14, 1899. They made their home in Roseland, Nebr., where their son was born in 1900. Since 1910 their home had been at Delta.

She is survived by her husband; her son, Capt. Emmett E. Sprung of the U.S. Navy; and a sister, Mrs. Elda Holloway of Lorimor.

Funeral services were held May 20 at Delta, and the body was brought to Peru for burial. Brief rites were held at Peru May 22 and burial was made in the Peru cemetery.
