Wade Allen Hiatt, 29, of St. Charles, died of injuries sustained in an auto accident, June 21, 1997 near Truro. Funeral services were held June 23 at the Kale Funeral Home in Truro. The Rev. Rich Harbart of Truro, officiated the services and burial followed at the Hartman Cemetery in Madison County.

He was born in Winterset, May 28, 1968, to Dennis and Suzanne (Courtney) Hiatt. He was a graduate of I-35 schools where he was active in sports. Following his graduation, he worked as a Journeyman Plumber and was licensed by TPI Plumbing in Des Moines. He lived all his life near the Truro, Peru and St. Charles areas and was a member of the Christian church in Truro.

He was preceded in death by two grandfathers.

Surviving relatives include his parents of Truro; one brother, Chet Hiatt and wife Ginger of Truro; his grandmothers, Helen Hiatt of Truro and Corgie Courtney of Lorimor; one uncle, Don Courtney and wife Judy of Lorimor; one aunt, Penny Schaffer and husband Eric of Truro.

Area man dies in car accident

Funeral services were held Monday for Wade Hiatt, 29, of St. Charles was killed Saturday when he lost control of his care near Truro. Hiatt’s car went into a ditch, hit an embankment, crossed a gravel road then rolled over on its sides.

Hiatt was transported to Mercy Hospital Medical Center, where he died. He is the son of Dennis and Suzanne Hiatt of Truro.

Hiatt spent all of his life near the Truro and Peru area. He graduated from Interstate 35 High School. He worked as a licensed plumber for TPI Plumbing in Des Moines. See obituary on page 3.

WADE ALAN HIATT

Wade Alan Hiatt, youngest son of Dennis Dwight and Suzanne Marie Courtney Hiatt, was born May 28, 1968, in Winterset and died June 21, 1997, as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Truro. He was 29.

He spent all his life in the Truro and Peru area. He graduated from Interstate 35 High School where he played baseball and was captain of the wrestling team. He was currently living in St. Charles.

Following graduation, Mr. Hiatt worked as a journeyman plumber. He was proud of becoming a licensed plumber and working for TPI Plumbing in Des Moines.

In addition to his work he was proud of the 4x4 Chevy pickup he had put a 600 horse big block engine in. A free spirit, Mr. Hiatt loved life and enjoyed life to the fullest with his friends.

He was preceded in death by his two grandfathers, C. Dwight Hiatt and Walter Courtney.

Mr. Hiatt is survived by his parents, Dennis and Suzanne Hiatt of Peru; a brother, Chet Hiatt and his wife, Ginger Hiatt, of Truro and their children, Cody and Ashley; grandmothers, Helen Hiatt of Truro and Corgie Courtney of Lorimor; an uncle, Don Courtney and his wife, Judy, of Lorimor and their children, Christy and Mandee; an aunt, Penny Schaffer and her husband, Eric Schaffer, of Truro and their children, Rick and Jody; as well as many other relatives and a host of friends.

Services for Mr. Hiatt were at 1 p.m. June 23 at Kale Funeral Home in Truro, the Rev. Richard Harbart officiating.

Casket bearers were Nathan Petersen, Bret Morris, Billy Paulsen, Shane Huston, Rick Stump and Nile Issac. Honorary casket bearers were Rick Schaffer, Jason Wells, Tom Baine, Bryan Morris, Jason Ayers and Rich Sharp. Interment was in Hartman Cemetery in Madison County.
