VERNA McNICHOLS Died Wednesday

Mrs. Verna Mae McNichols of Winterset, a life-long resident of Madison county, died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 1967, at Memorial hospital here. She was 72 years of age.

Mrs. McNichols was the former Verna Mae Leach, daughter ofWilliam F. and Lauri McDonald Leach. She was born in this county April 9, 1895.

She was married Sept. 4, 1912, to William Ross McNichols. He preceded her in death in 1937.

Mrs. McNichols was a member of the Methodist church, and of the Women's Christian Temperance unon. She was also a member of the 60-Plus club.

She is survived by six children, Mrs. Wilma L. Loomis of Ames, Mrs. Ethel L. Armstrong of Earlham, Mrs. Blanche M. White of Winterset, Wilbur McNichols of Winterset, Willard McNichols of Bloomington, Ind., and Kenneth McNichols of Oelwein; and 17 grandchildren.

She also leaves a brother, Ray Leach of Winterset; and eight sisters, Mrs. Aletha Bussanmas of Bevington, Mrs. Ida Dawson of Nevada, Mrs. Marie Carey of St. Charles, Mrs. Wilda McManus of Des Moines, Mrs. Florence Cumings of Des Moines, Mrs. Georgia Kinney of Winterset, and Mrs. Alberta Sousley of Omaha.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. Charles Upkike, pastor of the Winterset Foursquare church. Burial was made in Chase-McDonald cemetery.
