MRS. JULIA BARGAR WORTHING, Truro

Mrs. Julia Bargar Worthing was born in Harrison county, Ohio, Nov. 14, 1846 and passed away Aug. 21, 1923 at Hollywood, Calif., where she with her husband, were visiting their daughter, Mrs. John Welch.

Mrs. Worthing grew to womanhood in Ohio and was married to John E. Worthing, Jan. 22, 1867. They came to Iowa in October of 1880 and settled east of Truro on a farm. The residence has been at Truro ever since, with the exception of a few years spent in Winterset and Des Moines.

Nine children were born to this union and all were present at the last service, with the exception of Mrs. John Welch of Hollywood, Calif. The other children are Mrs. W. O. Creger and Mrs. W. D. Bradshaw of Truro, Mrs. T. H. Queen of New Virginia, Mrs. J. E. Durham of Des Moines, Mrs. O. W. Fansler of Mason City, Barger and Richard Worthing of Denver, Colo., and John Worthing of Boulder, Colo. Besides the immediate family, she leaves one brother, J. W. Bargar of Little Rock, Ark., and a sister, Mrs. Susan Bell of Kimballton, Ohio. The other sister, Mrs. S. O. Banker, passed on a few years previous.

Mrs. Worthing has lived a long and useful life. She believed in the privacy of the home and was devoted to her husband and children, and labored to make her home a real center of power for those in it. She had a fine Christian character and was exemplary in all the traits of motherhood. Her great host of friends indicate her neighborliness and the esteem in which she was held. She was deeply conscious of, and highly appreciated, the kind service of friends who tried to alleviate her sufferings and minister to her comfort. Sister Worthing was ready to go to be with her Redeemer and many times expressed her confidence in promises and desired to be taken to the heavenly home. She had been a member of the church since her girlhood, and confidently looked forward to the time of her coronation.
