Russell Baker, Peru

A funeral service was held Tuesday, Aug. 10, at the Peru United Methodist Church for Russell Dean Baker of rural Peru, who died Aug. 7 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. He was 49 years old.

Born Oct. 27, 1932 in Madison County, he was the son of Rufus and Mary Warren Baker. He attended Barney schools and in November 1953 married Shirley Patterson in Peru.

He was a supervisor for the Dental EZ Co. and belonged to the Peru United Methodist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers, Harold, Floyd, and Earl; and a sister, Edna Morey.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley; son, Robert Baker of Winterset; two daughter, Peggy Marean of Winterset and Katherine Roberts of St. Charles; and four grandchildren.

Rev. Jane Clinton of New Virginia officiated at the funeral service. Burial was in Peru Cemetery.

Russell Baker Services Aug. 10

Russell Dean Baker, 49, Peru, died at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines Saturday, August 7. Services will be held Tuesday, August 10 in the United Methodist Church in Peru with the Rev. Janne Clinton of New Virginia officiating at the 1:30 p.m. rites. Interment will be in the Peru Cemetery.

Russell Dean Baker was born October 27, 1932 in Madison County, Iowa, son of Rufus Baker and Mary Warren Baker. He attended school in Barney and Peru and on November 1, 1953 was married to Shirley Patterson in Peru. Four children were born to this union. He was a supervisor at Dental EZ Company of Des Moines. He was affiliated with the United Methodist Church in Peru.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Peru; son, Robert Joseph Baker and wife, Jolene of Winterset; daughter, Peggy Sue Marean and husband, Mike of Peru; daughter, Kathryn Marie Roberts and husband, Dave of St. Charles; four grandchildren, Shanda and Casey Marean and Chad Robert Baker and Amber Roberts; father and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Patterson of Peru; two brothers, Clarence Baker of Macksburg and Charles Baker of Ridgecrest, California; eight sisters, Hazel Knout and Leta McChesney, both of Norwalk; Florence Stifel of Selena, Washington; Grace Carter of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; Ruty Bush of Macon, Missouri; Elsie Allen of Winterset, Wanda Corell of Marlette, Michigan and Kathryn Patterson of Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Gerald Russell; three brothers, Harold, Floyd and Earl Baker and one sister, Edna Morey.
