Jesse K. Armstrong, Indianola

Jesse K. Armstrong, 85, of Indianola, died from complications of pneumonia Friday, Feb. 13, 1998, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.

Services were held Monday, Feb. 16, at the United Methodist Church in Indianola. Burial was at St. Charles Cemetery.

Jesse K. Armstrong was born in Warren County, Iowa. He was a retired tank driver for Standard Oil of Martensdale and a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in WW II. He was a member of the Indianola First United Methodist Church, Indianola Senior Citizens, the Winterset VFW Post 8142, and a charter member of the St. Charles Lions Club.

He is survived by his wife, Helen of Indianola; a son, Rex of Indianola; a daughter, Kay Boden of Creston; and four grandsons.

Arrangements were handled by the Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church of Indianola or the Indianola Senior Citizen Center.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 16 at the United Methodist Church in Indianola for Jesse K. Armstrong, 85, of Indianola who died Feb. 13, 1998, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines. Burial was in the St. Charles Cemetery.

Mr. Armstrong was born in Warren County and had lived in Indianola since 1984 when he moved from St. Charles.

A U. S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a tank truck driver for Standard Oil Company in Martensdale for 30 years. He retired in 1972.

Mr. Armstrong was a member of Indianola First United Methodist Church, Indianola Senior Citizens, Winterset Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8142 and a charter member of St. Charles Lions Club.

He is survived by his wife Helen Armstrong of Indianola; a son Rex Armstrong of Indianola; a daughter, Kay Boden of Creston and four grandsons.
