A ninety four year old lifetime resident of Madison County, Effie Marie McKee, died Thursday, May 6, 1976, at Madison County Memorial Hospital. She was born February 22, 1882, in Scott township of Madison County, the daughter of Josiah Banks and Elizabeth Crawford.
A housewife, Mrs. McKee's residence in Winterset was at 322 W. Court. She was affiliated with the United Presbyterian Church.
A member of the Child Welfare Club, Mrs. McKee was active in early women's rights movements and club work in Winterset. Her marriage to James Wilbert McKee took place June 6, 1906, in Winterset. He preceded her in death July 5, 1974.
Survivors include a daughter, Helen Marguerite McKee. Mrs. McKee was preceded in death by her parents, husband and eight brothers and sisters.
Funeral services for Effie Marie McKee were conducted Saturday, May 8, 1976, at 2 p.m. from Collins Funeral Home. Burial was made at the Winterset Cemetery.
