Lenore Della Ruth, 96, died of multiple organ failure Oct. 8, 2001, at West Bridge Care & Rehabilitation in Winterset.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, at Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset with the Rev. Jim Howland officiating. Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday, Oct. 10) with the family present from 5:30-7 p.m. Burial will be at Peru Cemetery.

Lenore Ruth was born Aug. 25, 1905, to Oscar and Callie (Macumber) Frederickson of Peru. She married Cheryl (Chick) F. Ruth on April 6, 1925, in Peru. A homemaker, she had spent all of her life in Madison County except for four years in Weslaco, Texas. Lenore had been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Eastern Star, Madison County Historical Society, Friends of the Winterset Public Library, A. V. A., Peru Garden Club, Scott Township Community Circle and the First United Methodist Church in Winterset.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by a son, C. Hugh Ruth (wife LaNelle) of Winterset; a daughter, Ilene Holmes (husband Michael) of Winterset; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Friends of the Winterset Public Library or Middle River Hospice.
