Edna Evelyn Dolson, 89, of Winterset died of a heart attack July 6, 2002, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 11, a the Firsst United Methodist Church in Winterset with Pastor Robert Barrick officiating. Burial will be at Winterset Cemetery.

Edna Dolson was born Oct. 28, 1912, in Mt. Ayr to Parks Meredith and Grace Leona (Thompson) Ellison. She married Delbert A. Dolson on June 10, 1933, in Creston. A resident of Winterset since 1939, she had been an insurance rater for Farm Bureau in Des Moines for 20 years. Edna was a member of the Good Sams Club, Singles Club, Iowa Genealogy Sociey, Winterset Art Center, D.A.R. and First United Methodist Church in Winterset. She also was an extra in the movies "Cold Turkey"and "The Bridges of Madison County."

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, a brother, two sisters and a grandson.

She is survived by two sons, James V. Dolson (wife Marlies) of Plano, Texas, and Gene A. Dolson (companion Pauline Foster) of Denver, Colo.; two daughters, Linda G. Backus (companion Don Garrett) of Macksburg and Doris Rinard (companion Truman Boyd) of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two brothers, Cecil Ellison of Nolanville, Texas, and Wayne Ellison of Eden, Texas; three sisters, Marjorie Adkisson of Mt. Ayr, Merle South of Afton and Audrey Rowe of Wellman; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
