Monday, October 4, 1993Lena May Laughlin, 99, of Creston died Oct. 1, 1993 at Crest Haven Care Center.
Services were 2 p.m. Oct. 4 at the Keating-Lindsay Golden Rule Funeral Home in Creston. The Rev. Glenn D. Meyer officiated the service. Music was by Cindy Selim, organist and vocalist. Burial was in the Moon Cemetery at Macksburg.
Mrs. Laughlin was born July 27, 1894 in Monmouth, Ill., to David L. and Clara (Romine) Campbell. She moved to Iowa as a young girl and resided in the Macksburg area until moving to Creston in 1945. She was employed as a cook for the Macksburg Schools for many years and was employed by the Iowana Hotel for several years.
She married Omer Simpson Dec 24, 1912 in Macksburg and he preceded her in death March 30, 1975. She married Harold Laughlin Nov. 19, 1962 in Omaha, Neb. and he preceded her in death March 14, 1964. She was member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Creston.
Survivors include two daughters, Edna B. Barnes of Creston and Fern (husband Dwight) Mohr of Elkhart; a son, Dave V. (wife Delores) Simpson of Creston; 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Marie, a son, Earl; sister, Margaret Brown; five brothers, Glen, Lester, Lennie, Earl, and Jessie Campbell; a granddaughter and a great-granddaughter.
