Dan Miles, 82, of Mesa Ariz. died March 24, 1997. Services for family and friends will be at the Green Acres Mortuary in Scottsdale, Ariz. Interment will follow at Green Acres.

He was born to Blaine and Bess (Burd) Miles and had spent most of his life in Madison County. After retiring from the livestock business in 1976, he and his wife moved to Arizona where he achieved his ultimate golf reward, "a hole in one". He was member of the Knights of Pythian and Lakeview Country Club. He was a strong supporter of the Junior Golf program at the Winterset High School and was well-known for his golf skills and many awards he had earned at the Lakeview Country Club. He was also a volunteer fireman of the Winterset Fire Department.

He was preceded in death by one sister. Surviving relatives include his wife, Marjorie (Compton) Bass Miles; two daughters, Sherry Dalrymple of Des Moines and Judy Leslie of Winterset; three step-children, Karen Jackson of Sun Lakes, Ariz. Rita Hood of Omaha Neb., and Mike Bass of Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Philip Miles of Van Meter and Victor Miles of Sun City, Calif.; two sisters, Margery Boresi of West Des Moines and Eileen Risher of Winterset; two grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.
