Anna Catherine King, 89, of Winterset died Feb. 27, 2005 at her home.

A Funeral Mass was held today (Wednesday, March 2) at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset with Father Chris Hartshorn officiating. Burial was at St. Patrick's Irish Settlement Cemetery, Madison County.

Anna King was born Aug. 1, 1915 to Earl Joseph and Anna Catherine (Weil) McKinney of Churchville. On Oct. 23, 1935, she married Louis James King in Churchville. Anna, a lifetime resident of Warren and Madison counties had been a cook at Tim's Club Cafe for 22 years. She was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she belonged to the Altar and Rosary societies. She also had belonged to the Hoosier Prairie Club and Buffalo Gals Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Margaret Barker; two sisters, Ella Forret and Rose Mary Penick; four brothers, Joe, Walt, Francis and John McKinney; and one great-grandson.

She is survived by four sons, Patrick King of Prole, Gerald King of Lorimor, Leo King of Winterset and Thomas King of Earlham; eight daughters, Juanita Beeler, Luella Fairholm, Nancy Stephenson and Rita Drysdale, all of Winterset, Carolyn Rothfus and Kathleen Churchill, both of Carlisle, Barbara Birdsell of Buckeye, Ariz., and Dorothy Wedemeyer of St. Charles; two sisters, Teresa Hart of Bayard and Leona Dittmer of Des Moines, one brother, Leonard McKinney of Denver, Colo., and 35 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset.
