L. H. Gordon Dies At Home of Daughter

L. H. Gordon, an old resident of Greenfield died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Leo Potter of Moorhead, Wednesday afternoon, of last week.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Church of Christ, here. Reverend Joseph A. Houston of Des Moines assisted by Mrs. Dessie G. Pilalas, of Columbia, Missouri conducted the services.

Mrs. Amelia Patterson and Russell Piper sang with Mrs. J. R. Piper as accompanist. The selections were "No Disappointments in Heaven"; "Abide With Me" and a solo, entitled "A Perfect Day" by J. R. Piper.

Grandsons and nephews who served as pallbearers were: Ray and Tom Gordon, Alva James and Lee Smith of Orient; Gordon and Ivan Evans, of Winterset, Iowa.

Lincoln H. Gordon was born in Madison County, Iowa, March 16, 1861 and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Leo Potter in Moorhead, Iowa, May 25, 1932 at 7 o'clock p.m. at the age of 71 years, 2 months, and 9 days. About two years ago Mr. Gordon suffered a stroke of paralysis from which he never fully recovered.

Lincoln H. Gordon was married to Sarah Koons, of Adair County June 16, 1888. To this union were born seven children: Mrs. Pearl Evans, Winterset, Iowa; Leo L. Gordon, Peers, Alberta, Canada; Wardell, deceased; Mrs. Marie Carter, Elgin, Iowa; Wayne J. Gordon, Greenfield; Mrs. Etha Potter, Moorhead, Iowa; Warren Gordon, Indianola, Iowa. He also has eleven granchildren and is survived by three sisters and three brothers who mourn his loss.

Mr. Gordon united with the Church of Christ in early life and was charter member of the Greenfield Church. He was man who loved intensely and in turn was loved by all who knew him. He was truly a husband, father, churchman, neighbor and citizen. He loved little children and they in turn worshipped him. His gentle spirit, his constant activity and his ever acommodating hand will never be forgotten. He was man who lived quietly among us but whose absence shall be greatly felt.

Brothers who were present at the funeral services were I. W. Gordon, and U. S. Gordon, of Des Moines; S. E. Gordon, of Orient. Three sisters survive, Mrs. H. T. Clampitt being the only present to attend the services. Mrs. Frank W. Andrews, of Los Angeles, California and Mrs. George Romesha, of Modesto, California were unable to be present.
