Doris Bennett, daughter of Jacob Augustus Holderbaum and Alice May, was born February 9, 1911 in Penn Township, Madison County, Iowa. She lived most of her life in Madison & Dallas Counties, attending Dexter school and Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Doris passed away at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset, Iowa on April 24, 1995 at the age of 84 years, 2 months, and 15 days.

On June 24, 1936 Doris was united in marriage with Carroll Bennett and to this union three children were born; Lilah, Marvin and Norman. Doris taught rural school in Madison County up until her marriage to Carroll, then farmed in the Madison and Dallas County areas. She was very active in the Earlham Garden Club, Madison County Farm Bureau Women's Organization, and a 4-H leader.

Doris was a member of the Earlham Methodist Church, and enjoyed UMW in Penn Center & Earlham Churches. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carroll, her sister Elaine Fink, and an infant grandaughter Linda Diane.

Doris is survived by her children; Lilah Howell of Mason City, Marvin and his wife Pat, and Norman and his wife Linda all of Dexter, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Burial was in the Earlham Cemetery.
