Death of Warren Payton

Mrs. Warren Smith received word Monday of the death of Warren Payton, son of Albert Payton, of Los Angeles, California. He was killed in an auto accident Sunday, at Hollywood, and the funeral services were held Wednesday. His mother, who preceded him in death, was a sister of Warren Smith. The boy was nineteen years of age. He is survived by his father, one sister, Louise, and a half brother. He had visited here with his parents, who formerly lived in Sioux City, where Mr. Payton was an insurance agent.

The Hollywood paper has this to say of the accident. "Warren Payton, 19 year old student of 1329 North Ogden Road, Hollywood, died last night in the Santa Monica hospital of head injuries received when the car he was driving on Santa Monica Boulevard early last night, hurdled the curb at the intersection of Gledon street and crashed into a pole. Floyd Freed, Payton's companion, was treated at the hospital for serious cuts and bruises. Sawtelle police reported that in attempting to avoid striking an automobile, Payton lost control of his car."
