Mrs. Z. A. French, 63, of 569½ Meadowlark Lane, died at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday enroute to St. Mary's Hospital following a heart attack.
A resident of Grand Junction for 48 years, Mrs. French was the former Opal Ruth Abernathy. She was born in Barney, Iowa.
She spent her early life in Montrose, and was married in Grand Junction Feb. 6, 1924. She was employed at Kuner's Canning Co., for 40 years, and was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Mr. and Mrs. French were caretakers of DeMerschman Gardens for eight years before they moved to a new home on the Redlands about a year ago.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, Richard French of Grand Junction; a daughter, Mrs. Warren Shriver of Leadville: six brothers, Ralph Abernathy of Sacramento, Calif., Roy and Paul Abernathy of Grand Juncton, Martin Abernathy of Springfield, Mo., Jennings Abernathy of Van Nuys. Calif., and Thad Abernathy of Palm Springs, Calif.; and one grandchild.
Funeral arrangements are being made at Martin's Mortuary.
