Shirley Ann Wade passed away, Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at Wesley Village in Indianola at the age of 89. Funeral services for Shirley will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, February 2, 2026, at First Assembly of God Church in Indianola, Iowa. A visitation will be held at 10:00 AM, prior to services on Monday. Interment will follow a lunch in the Winterset Cemetery.

Shirley Ann Wade, daughter of John D. and Josephine Pearl Alcorn, was born February 8, 1936, at home in Madison County, Iowa. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior when she was a child and grew up in a Christian home, attending Sunday School and church.

Shirley attended country school, Winterset High School, and graduated at Buffalo High School in Missouri where her parents had moved 2 years previously. She continued her education at Central Bible Institute from 1955-1956 and then went into nurses training at Springfield Baptist Hospital. She became a registered nurse and worked in three different hospitals. Shirley finished her nursing career at Sunset Nursing Home in Quincy, Illinois, retiring in 1999.

Shirley was married to Daniel Drew Wade on August 25, 1961, in Quincy, Illinois. Daniel was a teacher at Camp Point High School in Illinois. To this union their son James Aaron Wade was born on December 22, 1962. James passed away in 1982 and Daniel in 1989.

Shirley has been involved in children’s ministry, volunteer work at a Christian TV Studio, WTJR (Working ‘till Jesus Returns), in Quincy, Illinois, prison ministry, nursing home and retirement home ministry, and senior companion ministry. Shirley became a certified minister in April of 2009 and is a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Indianola, Iowa.

Those preceding her in death are her parents, John and Josephine Alcorn; sister, Mary Lou Hern; and brother and sister-in-law, Glenn and Velma Alcorn; 2 half-brothers, John Preston and Eugene Alcorn; 2 half-sisters, Eunice Patenaude and Lela Kembery; her husband, Daniel Drew Wade; and her son, James Aaron Wade. Shirley leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews. Memorials may be made to the First Assembly of God Church.
