Death of Raleigh J. Kitt

Raleigh J. Kitt, of near Van Meter, who had been in the Mercy hospital in Des Moines, receiving treatment, died Tuesday night, July 23d. Mr. Kitt had a severe case of blood poisoning caused by an open sore becoming infected while cutting weeds. The young man was a son of George and Emma E. Kitt, and with the exception of one year spent at Huron, South Dakota, had always lived in Madison county. He was twenty-seven years of age, being born near Earlham, September 1, 1900.

On October 31st, 1923, he was united in marriage to Gladys Peterson at Winterset. She, with two sons, Harold and Rex, survive him. He is also survived by his parents and nine brothers and sisters: Jess Franklin of Sterling, Colorado; Gaylord Sherman of Casey; Bertha D. McKirgan of Indianola; Stella M. Wolverton of Conrad, Montana; Claudie Ray of Truro; Goldie Mae Klein of Des Moines; Guy of Sterling, Montana; Daisy Hann of Winterset and John of Des Moines. All of these were able to be present at the funeral services.

The Rev. Frank Moore conducted the funeral services at the Methodist church in Patterson, Friday, July 27th, and burial was made in the Rock City cemetery at Winterset.
