March 9, 1928Katerina Sophie Marxen was born in Holstein Germany, September 28, 1831, and died near Macksburg, March 5, 1928, aged 96 years, 5 months and 6 days, at the home of her son, William Marxen.
She came from Germany to Marne, Iowa, in 1894, with her husband, Wm. Marxen, who died September 30, 1905.
She leaves to mourn her death two sons and two daughters, W. F. Marxen of Macksburg, M. Marxen of Council Bluffs; Mrs. W. Hakke of Hartley, and Mrs. B. Schonherr of Hamburg, Germany. Besides her children she leaves 16 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
The funeral services were held in the Roland, Peacock and Baxter funeral home in Atlantic, on Saturday morning, March 10th, conducted by Rev. Wm. Mack, and the interment was in the Marne cemetery.
