Frank Poage, who resided near Earlham, died last Wednesday, October 24th. He had been in poor health for some time, but it was only recently that his condition terminated into acute congestion of the lungs. He was 71 years of age and was the youngest child of Allen and Susan Poage. On May 6th, 1881, he was married to Miss Emma Elsie Tudor of Homer, Illinois, and two children were born to them. Harry of Des Moines, and Allen, at home with his parents.
In 1900 the family moved from Homer, Illinois, to Nevada where they made their home until in 1917, when they moved to the present home, southeast of Earlham.
Besides his wife and sons, he leaves a brother, Porterfield Poage of Danville, Illinois, and five grandchildren.
Rev. James Walls, paster of the Fairview Methodist church, conducted the funeral services at the home, Friday afternoon, October 26th, at 2:30 o'clock, and burial was made in the Earlham cemetery. The pall bearers were Fred Lents, Roy Paten, Emil Zieman, Charles Barnett, George Mills and Joe Britton.

Thursday, November 1, 1928Frank Poage, youngest child of Allen and Susan Frame Poage, was born at Homer, Illinois, June 15, 1857, and departed his life at his home southeast of Earlham, Iowa, October 24, 1928, aged 71 years, 4 months and 9 days.
His father and mother came to Homer, Illinois from Harper’s Ferry, Virginia, in 1826. They reared a family of four children, three sons and a daughter. A brother and sister preceded Mr. Poage in death.
On March 6th, 1881, he was united in marriage with Miss Emma Elsie Tudor, Homer, Illinois. There came to bless this union two sons, Harry, of Des Moines and Allen at home with his parents.
In 1900 they family moved from Homer, Illinois to Nevada, Iowa, where they made their home till 1917 when they moved to their present home near Earlham.
As a boy he attended the Methodist and Presbyterian Churches; at the age of twelve he became a member of the Presbyterian church at Homer, Illinois.
He has been in failing health since January 1928, a condition that terminated in acute congestion of the lungs.
Surviving him are his wife, and sons, a brother, Porterfield Poage, Danville, Illinois; five grandchildren, Helen, Susan, Robert, Raymond and Edwin Poage. He will be missed by a wide circle of friends and neighbors.
Funeral services conducted from his late home, Friday afternoon, October 26, 1928, at 2:30 by Rev. James Walls, pastor of the Fairview Methodist church, where he attended the social gatherings in religion in the community and backed up his wife in the social and financial support of the church serving the local farm community.
Interment was at Earlham. Pallbearers were: Fred Lentz, Roy Payton, Emil Zieman, Charles Barnett, George Mills and Joe Brittain.
