Maxine Fuller was born on September 26, 1939, to Jess and Erma (Nellis) Nelson. Maxine attended Earlham Community Schools and graduated in 1957. She later worked two years at Equitable of Iowa before marrying the love of her life, LeRoy Fuller, on December 27, 1959. Together they lived for two years in Germany while LeRoy served in the Army, before settling back in Earlham to raise their family and farm.

She was a devoted mother to her children: Doug, Marcia, Les, and Sherie. Maxine was also blessed with family—who brought her endless joy, especially when she watched them participate in sporting events and other activities.

Maxine’s life was rooted in faith, family, and community. A lifetime member of Earlham Methodist Church, she faithfully served as a Sunday School teacher, in the United Methodist Women, and the church Eve Circle. She was also a longtime member of the Sunshine Circle. She held leadership roles in the Garden Club and the Chautauqua Circle, where she shared her love of flowers and gardening. She enjoyed sewing, reading, square dancing, camping, and most of all, spending time with her family.

She also worked at Bear Creek Emporium for several years and later spent many years caring for children at Young Explorers Day Care, where her kind and nurturing spirit left a lasting impact.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Jess and Erma Nelson; stepmother, Doris Nelson; husband LeRoy Fuller: infant son, Daniel; grandson, Daniel Lee Jones; son Douglas Fuller; and her sister and brother-in-law, Geraldine and John Williamson and step-sister Sybil Witt.

She is survived by her children Marcia Link of Earlham, Les (Tracy) Fuller of Pella, and Sherie (Jason) Ewers of Grimes; grandchildren; Hannah Link, Hailey Link, Hope (Elijah) Mott, and Heidi Link, and their father Steve Link; Samantha (Tristin) Chapman, Grant (Evie) Fuller, Roselaure Fuller and Kenson Fuller, Jacob Ewers and Olivia Ewers. Great grandchildren Collins Chapman and Thaddeus Mott; her sister Carol (Mike) Cady; her step-sisters Karen Barnett, and Jan Duncan; her step-brothers Gene Price (Faye) and Jim Price; and a host of extended family and friends.
