Eva Short, 91, of Winterset, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning July 1, 2025 at the Guthrie County Hospital.
She was born on April 10, 1934 to her parents, Paul and Edith (Robinson) Jamison of Madison County, Iowa. She was proud to be born at the first hospital in Winterset, that was started by her aunt and uncle. Eva graduated from Winterset High School in 1952 and lived in Madison County nearly her entire life. She loved the people of this community and was proud to be from here.
She and her business partner, Frances Wight, owned and operated the Dairy Sweet for 12 years and she worked at the Farmers Merchants Bank for 14 years. She loved China painting, camping with their camping club and evening rides with her beloved husband, Willard. She loved her family and was an awesome grandma and great grandma.
Eva is survived by her two sons, Randy (Greta) Short and Rick (Judy) Short; grandchildren, Sierra (Hank) Beauchamp, Alexander Short, and Madison Short; two great grandchildren, Adaline Beauchamp and Huck Beauchamp; sister-in-law, Joanne Jamison; and several nieces and nephews.
Eva is preceded in death by her husband, Willard Short; parents, Edith and Paul Jamison, her brothers, Rolland (Carolyn) Jamison, Robert (Callie) Jamison, Mack Jamison; sister, Shirley Jamison; and grandson, Zachary Short.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 7, at the First Christian Church in Winterset.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for a future designation.
