Phyllis Lee Woodley, 87, passed away on Monday, March 24, 2025 at NorthCare Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri.
On November 11, 1937, Phyllis was born in Winterset, Iowa to Max and Catherine (Clark) Kilpatrick. She was wed to Merritt D. Woodley on April 6, 1958, in Winterset. To this union were born two sons, David and Douglas.
Phyllis was proud to have been born and raised in Madison County and to call Winterset her hometown. She was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church and a fixture in the Winterset community. Phyllis was a strong woman to the last breath; her life was centered on hard work, human connections, family and community - all with resolute Faith.
Phyllis is survived by her son, Doug (Carrie) Woodley of Minneapolis, MN and grandson, Darin Woodley (son of David) of Bloomington, IN. She also leaves behind countless friends and supporters - her interpersonal bonds were substantial, and she took great interest in others. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Harriett Husted, and son, David Woodley.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 7:00 PM, Monday, March 31, 2025 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel; family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, April 1 at the First Christian Church in Winterset. A private burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Phyllis may be directed to the Woodley Memorial (2227 NE 107 Terrace, Kansas City, Missouri, 64155) and shall be distributed to several groups to fulfill her wishes.
