Page 5, Column 5Amsterd Augustin Bell was born August 25, 1881, in Linn township, Warren county, Iowa, and grew to manhood on the old home farm.
October 14, 1903, he married Miss Mary Lickteig. To this union five children were born: Margaret B., Barbara J., Mary Catherine, Joseph A., and Robert I., all of whom are living.
In 1907 he bought and moved to the farm three miles southeast of Martensdale, which has since been the family home.
In January of this year he was taken sick with influenza, which developed into pneumonia and although every effort was expended in his behalf, he died on Wednesday, February 11, 1920, at the age of thirty-eight years, five months and seventeen days.
Mr. Bell was very fond of his family, his every energy being devoted to their interest and care. He was an industrious farmer and a good neighbor and will be missed by a large circle of friends. He lived all his life in Linn and Jefferson townships and was respected by all who knew him.
He leaves to mourn his departure his wife and five children, his aged mother, who lives in Norwalk; four brothers, James and Tom of Holly, Colorado; John of Canon City, Colorado; and Sam, of Norwalk, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Bridget Powers of Holly, Colorado, and Mrs. Belle Powers of Norwalk, Iowa.
The funeral was held in the Catholic church in Churchville and the interment was made at St. Patrick’s cemetery.
