Linda Sue (Porter) Dillinger was born April 25, 1942, in Ackron, Iowa, the first child born to James Martin and Mary Anne (Long) Porter. Linda Sue was born while her father was proudly serving his country in WWII. At 3 years old she met her father for the first time upon his return home. She was the apple of his eye and quickly became a daddy’s girl.

A lifelong resident of Winterset, Linda Sue graduated from Winterset High School in 1960. On Aug. 27, 1961, she married Larry Dillinger, the love of her life. The first years of their marriage were spent in Cedar Falls while Larry completed his college degree. Time was also spent in Lake Mills, Radcliff and Gilman before settling and making their home on an acreage back in Winterset.

Early on Linda Sue was a homemaker. Caring for their three children, she helped support their family of five through gardening, canning, making and mending clothes as well as many other tasks.

After moving from the acreage into Winterset, Linda Sue began working as a teller at Union State Bank, eventually retiring as an assistant vice president.

Linda Sue loved gardening, quilting, reading, camping, playing cards and Mahjong. She was an avid animal lover and enjoyed her beloved pets.

With her loving family surrounding her, Linda Sue passed from this earth on Friday, Nov. 22, 2024.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Larry of Winterset; son, Jeffery (Amy) of Blue Springs, Mo.; daughter Ramona (Pat) of Adel; son, Eric (Brian) of Des Moines; the two greatest joys of her life, her grandsons Ethan and Evan Davis, both of Winterset; as well as brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.
