Born on October 5, 1929, in Chicago, Illinois. She was the youngest of six children and her parents emigrated from Poland. Stephanie's early years were spent in the vibrant surroundings of Oak Park, where she cultivated a love for the arts. After five years, she moved to Lincolnshire, which became her cherished home for the majority of her life. Her passion for art led her to attend and graduate from The American Academy of Art in Chicago, where she honed her skills and later established a successful career painting portraits and operating her own studio.

On June 16, 1951, Stephanie married the love of her life, John Mills, in Chicago. Their partnership was a harmonious blend of love and mutual respect until John’s passing. Though they had no children of their own, Stephanie's legacy lives on through her devoted nephews, nieces, extended family, and a host of friends who were touched by her warmth and generosity.

Stephanie's interests were many and varied. She found joy in the simple pleasures of gardening, cooking, and baking, as well as in the grand adventure of traveling across the United States. As a faithful member of the Community Christian Church in Lincolnshire, she shared her spirit and talents generously.

Twenty years ago, Stephanie made the move to Iowa to be closer to her family, where she continued to embrace life with grace and enthusiasm. Her memory will be cherished and her presence deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; her siblings; nephews, Carl Belden and niece-in-law, Wanda Belden.

She is survived by her niece, Mary Beth Grimm; nephews: Edward Grimm, Richard (Audrey) Belden, John (Delores) Belden and James (Diane) Belden; niece-in-law, Carolyn Belden and a host of extended family and friends that will miss her dearly.
