MRS. JESSIE MILES PASSED SATURDAY

Widow of Late Daniel Miles Succumbed at Her Home in Winterset

Mrs. Jessie Miles, a life-long resident of this community died last Saturday at her home in Winterset. She had been ill for several months. She was 76 years of age.

Mrs. Miles was the former Jessie Bird, daughter of the late Butler and Mary Graham Bird, and was born on a farm two miles east of Winterset on February 1, 1862.

On December 14, 1881, she was married to Daniel T. Miles, who died 16 years ago. They were the parents of six children, one of whom Bruce Miles, preceded his mother in death.

Mrs. Miles had been a member of the Church of Christ since her girlhood.

She leaves, at her death, five children: Bird Miles and Mrs. May Emery of Chicago, Mrs. Lillian Smith of Gilmore City, Mrs. Mary McClurg of Des Moines, and Blaine Miles of Winterset; a brother, Graham Bird of Patterson; and 15 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Winterset Church of Christ in charge of the pastor, the Rev. H. L. Olmstead, assisted by the Rev. L. F. Davis. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
