Robert M. Stephenson, the son of William and Lora (Ridout) Stephenson was born June 27, 1935 in Winterset, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Winterset where he attended school and graduated from Winterset High School in 1953. After high school, Bob graduated from the University of South Dakota with a BA in fine arts and a Masters in music.
On September 1, 1957, Bob was united in marriage to Della Evans at the Ord Church in Winterset. Following their marriage, Bob had been a teacher in Vermillion, SD for a brief time. From 1958-1964 he taught school in Lake View, IA, before moving to Cherokee in 1964 where he taught school for ten years.
After retiring from teaching, Bob worked for Lundquist Real Estate before branching of with his wife Della and starting Stephenson Real Estate.
Bob was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. He was an avid hunter and fisher. He enjoyed music, being outdoors, and trying new things. Most of all he enjoyed the time spent with family and friends.On September 27, 2016, Bob passed away at Cherokee Specialty Care at the age of 81. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lora Stephenson, and one brother Clifford Stephenson.
He is survived by his wife, Della Stephenson of Cherokee, IA; children: Greg Stephenson of Northfield, MN, Mitch (Julie) Stephenson of Morristown, MN, Ted (Lu Ann) Stephenson of Hartford, WI, and Kerry Collins of Chaska, MN; one sister, Sherry Breckenridge of Washington State; one sister-in-law, Norma Stephenson of Clear Lake, IA; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; other relatives; and friends.
SERVICES: Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 1, 2016, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cherokee.
