The funeral of James Hollett, conducted by W. S. Lowe of the Burlington Christian church, was held at the Hollett residence, two miles south of Strawn. Many friends and acquaintances were present. Interment was in the Bailey cemetery.
James A. C. Hollett was born in Carrol county, Indiana, April 6, 1849, and died at Osawatomie, Kansas, April 15, 1918, aged 69 years, 8 days. He was married to Alice Ford of Madison county, Iowa on August 15, 1876.
To this union five children were born, all of which are living: Mrs. Albert Krause, Waverly, Kans., Pearl and James Hollett, Harrisonville, Mo., and Bert and Helen Hollett still at home.
He was a soldier in the Civil war. He served in Co. D, 135th Illinois regiment. He united with the Methodist church in 1893.
