Sharon Kay (Cooper) Dooley, 82 of Cedar Rapids died on Friday, August 23, 2024 at West Ridge Care Center. Private family services will be held at a later date. Teahen Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Sharon is survived by her daughter Rebecca Reinhart of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren Grace Reinhart, Jonathan Reinhart, and Anna Jo Reinhart and sister Shirley Lents (Roger) of Frisco, TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Richard Cooper.
Sharon was born on November 19, 1941, in Osceola the daughter of Howard and Fern Miller Cooper. She graduated from Winterset High School in 1960 and went on to graduate from the University of Northern Iowa in 1964 with a degree in physics. She married John Dooley in 1963, and moved to Puerto Rico. They later divorced. Sharon taught high school physics and later worked for various businesses as a mortgage auditor before retiring in 2004. She had lots of great friendships and fun memories with many she met along the way.
Sharon enjoyed hosting friends and family at her Lake House and cooking homemade spaghetti sauce and garlic bread and making the best fudge ever. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. July 4th was her favorite holiday.
Memorials may be directed to the family and will be split between the wonderful staff at The Gardens of Cedar Rapids and West Ridge Care Center.
