John “Jack” Ringgenberg, D.V.M., 91, of Ames passed away on August 14, 2024.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Saint Cecilia Catholic Church, 2900 Hoover Ave., Ames. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will be at the Lincoln Township Cemetery, rural Alleman.

Jack was born on August 1, 1933 to Arthur and Anna (Parmenter) Ringgenberg in Des Moines, Iowa. He was raised in Winterset, Iowa and graduated from Winterset High School in May 1951. Jack attended Eastern New Mexico University until December 1952 and went to Drake University through May 1953. He enlisted in the Army in 1953 and was stationed in Germany until 1956. Jack graduated from Iowa State College of Veterinary Medicine in 1961 and started his first veterinarian practice in Norwalk, Iowa before meeting his wife, Connie Becker to whom he married in Cumming, Iowa on October 6, 1962.

Jack and Connie lived in several Iowa communities before deciding to reside on a farm in Winterset in 1974. Jack worked for the United States Department of Agriculture as a veterinarian and farmed in the Winterset area before retiring and moving to Texas in 1993. During his retirement years, Jack enjoyed carving, fishing, traveling around the United States, visiting sights in Europe, and spending time with family and friends. He had a love for animals and had several family pets throughout the years. Jack returned to Ames later in life to be close to family.

Jack is survived by his six children: John Ringgenberg, Doug Ringgenberg, Anne (David) Byrne, Brian Ringgenberg, Sara (Sean) McWilliams and Mary (Denny) Thompson; one sister, Leona Ringgenberg; six grandchildren: Katie, Abby, and Rachel Ringgenberg, Brianna Byrne, Joseph and Jacqueline McWilliams.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Connie of 52 years; his parents, Arthur and Anna Ringgenberg; his brother, Robert Ringgenberg; and sister, Ruth Klonglan.
