Katherine “Ann” Johnston, 92, passed away August 9, 2024, at MercyOne Westlakes in West Des Moines.
Ann was born April 13, 1932, in Madison County, Iowa to Louis and Alice (McElwee) Lose. She lived in the Des Moines area most of her life. Ann graduated from Lincoln High School. Ann retired from Insurance Company of North America, where she had worked for many years. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church.
Ann is survived by her son, Bob (Ann) Quinn; grandchildren, Joe (Christina) Quinn and Hannah (Cory) Thornton; great-grandchildren, Cameron and Lillian; and a host of extended family and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bruce Johnston; siblings, Bonita (Stewart) Neswold, Robert (Audrey) Lose, Ed (Mary) Lose, John (Joan) Lose, Louis (Barbara) Lose, Ralph Lose and Agnes Lose.
The family will greet friends Sunday, August 18, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 5:30 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, August 19th at 10 a.m. at Christ the King, 5711 SW 9th Street. Ann will be laid to rest at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Cumming, Iowa.
