Kevin Lee Halstrum, age 51, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024.
He was born in Monterey Park, California, on November 5, 1972, to Brian and Rena (Harper) Halstrum. Kevin attended tech school and dedicated most of his working career to construction, proudly serving as a member of Local 106 Carpenter’s Union out of Des Moines. He was currently employed as a construction superintendent for Denovo Construction.
On April 14, 2001, Kevin married Mary Wellendorf in San Bernardino, California. Together, they raised two beloved daughters, Katharine and Rachel. Since 2011, they have made their home in the Winterset area.
Kevin will be remembered for his hard work, dedication to his craft, and his devotion to his family. He loved history, the Kansas City Chiefs, playing Minecraft, and being out on the water. He taught Katharine about carpentry and cars, and he passed on his artistic talent to Rachel. He loved and took care of every animal that his wife and two daughters brought home, or showed up in their yard. But more than anything, Kevin loved being with his "girls."
He is survived by his wife, Mary; their daughters, Katharine and Rachel Halstrum; his mother, Rena Halstrum; his father, Brian Halstrum; his sister, Brianne Halstrum (Rose); and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Kyle and Brian Halstrum.
A celebration of Kevin's life will be held on Saturday, August 3, from 2-6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for a future designation.
