Hilda I. Crouse, 96, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at Johanna Shores in Arden Hills, MN. Visitation will be from 12 to 1 pm Wednesday June 29, 2022 at McLaren's Chapel in West Des Moines, IA, with a funeral service at 1 pm. Burial will take place at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.

Hilda was born March 30, 1926 in Madison County, IA to Lester and Elsie (Clampitt) Piatt. She graduated from Earlham High School in 1943 and Simpson College in 1945. Hilda married Verl P. Crouse on August 28, 1948. She was a school teacher in Earlham and Des Moines and later worked as an Office Manager at Mutual of Omaha and in retail for Hy-Vee Corporation. Hilda was a member of West Des Moines Christian Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed gardening, reading, watching golf, following the Iowa Hawkeyes and other Iowa sports, and shopping, shopping, shopping. She cherished her time with family and friends.

Hilda is survived by her sons, Rodney (Lois) Crouse of Ames, Curtis (Kris) of Oakdale, MN, and daughter Terry (Ken) of Lakeville, MN; grandchildren Andrea Crouse (Roland Zwicker) of Paris, France, Steven Crouse of Des Moines, Brian Crouse (Sarah) of Roland, Brent Graner (Maggie Cheng) of Seattle, Washington, Julie Graner of Richfield, MN, and Carson Crouse of Oakdale, MN; great-grandchildren Thomas and Romy Zwicker, Beau and Emma Crouse; nieces Jeri (Mike) Elyea of Wichita Falls, TX and Sheri (Richard) Kyras of Ames. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Phyllis Shaw.
