November 18, 1941 - July 7, 2024

James Anthony Robinson, known affectionately as Jim to his friends and loved ones, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2024, in Earlham, Iowa. Born on November 18, 1941, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Leo Edward and Betty Jane (Crutchelow) Robinson. Jim was a man of kindness, creativity, and an exceptional ability to fix anything he put his hands to with WD40 and a screwdriver.

Jim grew up in Des Moines, where he graduated from Tech High School in 1961. Shortly after graduation, he proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force on January 29, 1961. As a Nuclear Weapons Specialist, he dedicated himself to his duties until his discharge on January 29, 1965. After his discharge from the Air Force, he proudly enlisted in the Air National Guard Des Moines division until December 1967. His commitment to excellence continued in his civilian life, where he was employed by Erickson Displays and Ram Industries, before finally serving as a supervisor at American National Can.

On November 7, 1997, Jim united in marriage with Kristie "Kris" Ann Barnett a union that was filled with love, laughter, and mutual respect. Survivors include children Yvette (Dave) Seibert, James "Jimmy" (Julie) Robinson, Misty (Mike) Hanson, Jason (Kristine) Robinson, Kelsey (Steven) Messerschmidt, grandchildren Christopher (Chelsea) Martin, William Robinson, Mariah (Cory) Bordson, Brody Robinson, Marissa (Kohle) Nieland, Mason Hanson, and Maverick Hanson. Jim was also a great-grandfather to Connor, Colton, Cassie, and Isabella.

Jim also leaves behind siblings, Robert (Bob) Robinson, Richard (Dick) Robinson, and Charles Robinson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo Edward and Betty Jane Robinson, and his siblings Eugene Robinson, Tom Robinson, and Patricia Robinson.

An outdoorsman at heart, Jim's love for duck and deer hunting was only matched by his passion for gardening. His vegetable patches and flower beds were a testament to his green thumb, and his large collection of Hot Wheels was a mirror of his playful spirit. Jim's ability to engage in meaningful conversations made visits with family and friends a cherished time.

Jim was also a car enthusiast with a special place in his heart for muscle cars. He spent countless hours working on them, showcasing his jack-of-all-trades skills. His creative and handy nature meant there was no challenge too great for him to tackle, earning him admiration and respect from all who knew him.

The legacy Jim leaves behind is one of dedication, love, and the kind of practical wisdom that makes the world a better place. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched with his kindness and in the stories of his creativity and handywork that will be passed down through generations.

As we say farewell to James Anthony Robinson, we celebrate a life well-lived and well-loved. He was a man of integrity, strength, and warmth, and he will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to have known him. Jim's spirit will continue to guide us, and his memory will forever be a beacon of the love and light he brought into our lives.
