Death of Mrs. C. S. Wilson

Mr. W. C. Newlon went to Des Moines Tuesday to be present during a surgical operation to be performed on his sister, Mrs. C. S. Wilson, for the removal of a tumor from her right side. When the operation was made for the removal of the tumor, the surgeons discovered that it was of a cancerous nature, and that the stomach was so involved that nothing could be done to save her life, the stomach being almost entirely closed.

She rallied from the operation and it was thought she might live a few days, but the end came sooner than expected, and at 2:20 Wednesday morning she passed away. Mrs. Wilson had been suffering for some time with a stomach trouble, but it was not considered serious. About three weeks ago and enlargement supposed to be a tumor was visible in the right side, and its growth was so rapid that it was decided to remove with the knife.

Mrs. Wilson spent her girlhood days in Madison county, and has many friends among the old settlers in and about Winterset. Her husband, C. S. Wilson, was an editor of the Madisonian in the 60s and will receive the heartfelt sympathy of his former acquaintances in this vicinity.

The funeral was held in Des Moines Tuesday, W. C. Newlon and wife and S. J. Newlon, of this place, being in attendance.
