Transcriber's note: The deaths reported in the newspaper were from the Madison County Death Records as entered by the County Recorder. The only name in the Death Register for 1881 that began with "C" and whose first name was John was John Conrad who happened to die August 4, 1881, coincident with the time of the newspaper death notice. John Conrad was 17 months and 3 days old, died in Jefferson Township, and was buried in the Fairview Cemetery. The surname "Coonson" is apparently a corruption of "Conrad".
