Transcriber's note: There is no record of a George Coakley in Madison County or anywhere else in the United States in any census back to 1800 that fits the profile in the Madison County Death Records. Per the MCDR, this person died in South Township on June 11th, aged 84y, 10m, 27d and was buried in the St. Charles Cemetery. Per the age at death, he was born 15 Jul 1796. There was, in the 1880 census, George Caskey, born ca 1796 who was in no further records. We cannot prove a negative, only that there is no evidence, other than the MCDR, that George Coakley existed, and there were 85 years for him to have left a record. We can prove, however, that their is plenty of evidence George Caskey existed and that none of it is inconsistent with him being the subject of this death notice.
