Frank E. Downs passed away early Sunday morning at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines. His death was the result of injuries received when the limb from a tree struck him while helping cut timber Tuesday of last week. He was so severely injured nothing could be done for him. W.D. Kale and Son, undertakers of Truro, brought the body to his home just east of town.

The funeral services were held at the Methodist church Tuesday at 2 p.m. The sermon was delivered by Rev. I.G. Randels, of the Church of Christ; Rev. G.E. Carnahan of the United Presbyterian church assisted with the services.

The music was furnished by C.M. Buchanan, Mary Crawford, Dolores Kale, of Truro, Carrie Guilliams, Ethel Brooks and E. R. Beitzell, with Hazel Cheek as accompanist.

The pall-bearers were C.C. Guilliams, C.E. Kinnaird, H.V. Brooks, J.D. Clanton, V.B. Cheek and E.P. Browne.

The Masons and Eastern Star members attended in a body to pay respects to their departed brother. There were many and beautiful floral offerings. The church, although the largest in town, was not large enough to hold all the people who attended the funeral.

Mr. Downs was a man who by his upright manner made many friends. He was laid to reset in the St. Charles cemetery with Model Lodge using the Masonic burial service

Frank Edgar Downs was born June 2, 1869, at St. Charles, Iowa, and passed away April 1, 1934 at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, aged 64 years, 9 months and 29 days.

His death was the result of a serious accident when struck by a falling limb when engaged in getting up a wood sawing. Five ribs were broken, a shoulder blade broken, and a lung badly crushed. He was heard to say as the end drew near, "I want to go home, I have been here about 65 years, and it's time to go home."

"Dearest father, thou hast left us
And our loss we deeply feel
But it is God that has bereft us
He can all our sorrows heal."
