Memorial services were held Wednesday afternoon, July 28, 1975, at 2:00 p.m. for Mrs. Nellie Prohaska, wife of Fred Prohaska. Services were held at the Fisher Funeral home in Adel with interment in Ellis cemetery.

Nellie Ruth Baker Prohaska was born March 16, 1913, at Waterville, Kansas. Nellie was the sixth of 13 children of Daniel and Lizzy Baker. At Nellie’s early age, her parents moved their family to a farm south of Van Meter. Nellie’s early years and youth were spent in the De Soto and Van Meter communities. Nellie Baker and Frederick Prohaska were married November 30, 1935, and spent their married lives working together, living on the farm west of De Soto.

Nellie was preceded in death by her father, Daniel Baker, two brothers, John and Martin, and an infant sister.

Nellie’s passing on July 28 leaves a much loved family of her husband, Fred; daughter, Lucia Mueller; son-in-law, Harlan Mueller; son, Lucian; daughter-in-law, Karen Prohaska; mother, Lizzy Baker; grandchildren, Laura Prohaska, Dale Mueller, Daniel Prohaska, Dean Mueller and John Prohaska, as well as sisters, Mary Baker, Sarah Parkinson, Lueta Baker, Dorothy Marquardt, Susie Thomas, Madelyn Mathews; brothers, Joe Baker, Robert Baker, and Curtis Baker. She also leaves many brothers and sister-in-law, nieces and nephews, aunt and uncles, and many friends.

We wish to thank all those who remembered our loved one during her long illness. We also thank all those who have remembered her and us in prayer, and have shared gifts of live, food, help, flowers and memorials.
