Paula Hannon, 69, of Winterset, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines.

Paula was born on October 14, 1954 to Lilbert and Mary Joan (Conard) Pettit in Iowa City, Iowa. She started school in Zion, but attended high school in Winterset. She married Charles Hannon on May 4, 2002 at the Cedar Covered Bridge in Winterset. She was also a member of the VFW Lady’s Auxiliary post in Winterset.

Paula was always an outgoing person and had an extremely sociable personality. She loved to talk and could make new friends just about anywhere she went. Paula enjoyed birdwatching, gardening and planting flowers. She grew a wonderful garden every year and even attempted her hand at canning a few times.

Family and friends were extremely important to Paula. She loved to support her grandchildren and great grandchildren in everything they did. She loved them so incredibly much and will be extremely missed by all.

Paula is survived by her husband, Charles; children, Jennifer (Gabe) Lataban, Alicia Miller, and April (Chet) Reames; grandchildren, Ava Hickey, Jesse (Bailey) Hickey, and Zebuliah Hannon; great grandchildren, Hunter Hickey, Morgan Hickey; siblings, Angel (Dan) Banks, Dani Jurgens, and David (Dwayna) Pettit; and step-siblings, Craig (Kathy) Linthicum, and Judy McCord.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lilbert and Mary Joan; foster parents, Art and Joni Hager; step mother, Donna Pettit; and brother, Brian Pettit.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 14, 2024 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel. Funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 15, 2024 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Winterset Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to New Bridge Church.
