GUILLIAMS II, Ernest

Ernest Eugene "Gene" Guilliams II, 90, of Sandy Springs, Georgia passed away Sunday, May 12, 2013. Mr. Guilliams was born on February 20, 1923, in Winterset, Iowa where he grew up working on a farm with his parents and sister.

He served in both World War II and the Korean War as a Navy pilot where he flew the well-known "Avenger" Torpedo Bomber.

After his service in World War II, Mr. Guilliams graduated from Drake University. During his time at Drake University, he met his lovely wife, Imie. They were married in 1948 and celebrated over sixty-four years of marriage.

Mr. Guilliams succeeded in the insurance industry where he worked for American Mutual Insurance. He rose in the firm to become the Southeast Regional Sales Manager. After his retirement from American Mutual Insurance, Mr. Guilliams worked for Pritchard & Jerden Insurance.

Mr. Guilliams was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Iva; sister Dorothy Don Carlos; and daughter Susan Guilliams McBride.

Mr. Guilliams is survived by his wife, Imie Guilliams, his son Ernest Eugene "Skip" Guilliams III, six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Graveside interment of the cremains will be held on June 14th, at 2:30 pm at the Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, Georgia. Memorial donations may be made to the Emory Alzheimer's Disease Research Center. Byars Funeral Home & Cremation Services is in charge of the arrangements.
