Linda Forbes of Petersburg, Ill., died on Sept. 25, 2023, at Memorial Hospital in Springfield, Ill., of a hemorrhagic stroke.

Ms. Forbes began her teaching career in Missouri but moved to Petersburg and remained there until her retirement in 2003.

She was born in Winterset, Iowa on Jan. 11, 1943, to Warner and Mabel (Rogers) Forbes. She had two older brothers, Robert and James. The family moved to Missouri, where Linda attended the School of the Ozarks, graduating from high school and junior college there. She graduated from Southwest Missouri State and held a graduate degree from Sangamon State University. She was active in numerous organizations in Petersburg and was a member of the Hollister Presbyterian Church in Hollister, Mo. She was also a pilot.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Robert.

She is survived by her brother, James of Des Moines; sister-in-law, Helen of Branson; and many other relatives and friends.

A private family interment of the cremains was held at the Winterset Cemetery on Oct. 3, 2023.
