On January 11th, 1963, at 10 o’clock! Slap! The great Joe Clausen was born at the Dexter Hospital. He lived with his family in rural Dexter. Attended Zion Lutheran Church where he was baptized and confirmed. As he got to school age, Joe went to Earlham Community Schools. While growing up he was active in multiple school and community events. In 1981, Joe graduated high school then continued his education at A.I.B. in Des Moines, Iowa. After completing A.I.B., he decided to move to Florida where he learned the trade of plumbing. As the years passed, Joe decided to move back to Iowa, where he resided in Knoxville, where his most desirable hobby was sprint car racing and continued his trade in plumbing. Knoxville is where he lived out the rest of his days.

Joe Clausen, 60, passed away peacefully at his home on October 1, 2023, surrounded by his family and friends. Visitation will be held at Johnson Family Funeral Home in Stuart, Iowa on October 20th from 6-8 P.M. Graveside funeral service will be Saturday, October 21st at the Robert’s Cemetery beginning at 10 A.M.

Joe is survived by his mother (Vivian), older sister (Cindy) and brother (Daniel and wife Sheila). Five nephews, nine nieces and fourteen great-nieces and nephews. Memorials can be directed to the family or Zion Lutheran Church and may be sent in care of Johnson Family Funeral Home in Stuart.

Following the graveside service, a luncheon will be held at the Dexter Roundhouse.
