Mrs. J. M. Volk, former resident of Macksburg, died Saturday, March 25, at her home in Mazoma (sic), Montana, at the age of 70 years. Mrs. Volk’s death came suddenly following a heart attack.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 31, at the Hale and Zion church near Orient at 2:00 p.m

Missoula-Funeral services will be held here Thursday for Mrs. Bertha Volk, 70, who died recently. She was born In Adair county, Iowa, and married John M. Volk in Orient, Iowa, in 1895. She came to Missoula in 1939, after her husband died.
Surviving are three daughters, Maud and Nell Volk of Missoula and Mrs. D. V. Denton of Greenfield, Iowa, and a son, John of Tacoma.

Mrs. John M. Volk, formerly of Winterset, died Saturday, March 25, at her home in Missoula, Montana, at the age of 70 years. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 28, by Rev. R. E. Caneron at the Powell and Johnson Chapel at Missoula, Montana, and at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 31, at the Hill of Zion church conducted by Rev. A. R. Weed, assisted by Rev. Willey. Interment was made in the Hill of Zion Cemetery.
Bertha Alice Wilson, daughter of Sophronia S. and William Wilson was born in Union township, in Adair county, Iowa, on October 19, 1873.
In August 1889 she was united in marriage to James Caskey, who died in June 1891. To this union was born one daughter. On November 27, 1895, she was united in marriage to John Michael Volk who preceded her in death February 23, 1939. To them were born two daughters and two sons, one son dying in infancy. Mrs. Volk, daughter of a pioneer family, made her home in Adair county until 1939 when she went to make her home with her daughters.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. D. V. Denton of Greenfield, Maude and Nell Volk of Missoula, Montana; one son, John K. Volk of Tacoma, Washington; one sister, Mrs. Roy F. Wilson of Bison, So. Dakota; three grandchildren, and two great grandchildren, besides many other relatives and friends.
